The reason for this is several fold. Firstly the OGC definition of CMDB (and DSL) is quite weak and ambiguous. Secondly, to maintain quality data in a CMDB it needs fairly mature service support processes and integrated discovery tools as a ‘policing’ vehicle. Lastly, it is common for a huge number of detailed requirements to be attached to a CMDB project making the scope practically impossible to implement and causing many projects to falter or even fail.
ITAMS specialises in the convergence between asset management and service management. We help our clients leverage real world benefit from configuration management, demonstrating quickly what is realistically achievable in your specific case given your process and discovery maturity levels.
We bring objectivity and experience of this challenging subject, linking our clients to one another to demonstrate what has been achieved by others ; where they have succeeded and where they have focused their efforts for maximum benefit.
ITAMS role in CMDB projects is varied and depends on our client’s circumstances and goals. However, typical roles include consultant /advisor, technical architect, integrator, process analyst and project manager. |
